The Engines of Armageddon

Hello to whoever it is from Nottingham who keeps refreshing this page, over and over :)

They Say :- We are a RADICAL VIGILANTE NETWORK dedicated to the FREEDOM OF MANKIND from the clutches of hierarchical SLAVERY. JOIN US IN OUR QUEST AND TRUE LIBERATION WILL BE UPON US ALL! We are in the process of INFILTRATING THE PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS by releasing mind-bending PROPAGANDA in the form of CD ALBUMS, DOING GIGS as a hella-tight Thrash/Power/Doom/Groove METAL BAND from Nottingham UK, and using CAPITAL LETTERS to emphasize important stuff in all correspondences - the international elite didn’t see THAT one coming.

Comparisons to acts such as Mastodon, The Sword, Alabama Thunderpussy, Mahavishnu Orchestra, High on Fire, Megadeth and Orange Goblin, serve only to confuse matters further, try as they might no-one seems to be able to pigeonhole the unique sound of the Engines...

Like they say, it's very hard to find a comparison for The Engines of Armageddon as they really don't sound like anything else currently out there. Their enitirely self-produced Obelisk 2010 E.P is an ecclectic mix of Thrash/Prog/Doom/Stoner Rock with some Power Metal style vocals and politically laiden lyrics thrown in for good measure.

After listening through the entire album you walk away feeling rather like you have witnessed a very bizarre, sleazy but ultimatley entertaining orgy featuring various members of bands such as Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Slayer, Immortal and Sabaton. In theory it shouldn't work but theories exist to be disproved and that's what these guys have done. This E.P. by the Engines of Armageddon is an excellent introduction to their world, and a refreshing change from the norm.

This is a band with great potential and I shall be very interested to see what they come up with next.

Amanda
