Since the release of her third album Merchants and Thieves in 2010, Sandi Thom has been a very busy young lady. She has relocated to Malibu, moving in with boyfriend Joe Bonamassa, she has taken time out to pay visits to The Willows Animal Shelter of which she is a patron, started a new independent record label Guardian Angels Records, and has spent a lot of time in Nashville recording album number four, Flesh and Blood.
The album is generating a lot of buzz in the music world, and quite rightly so. Merchants and Thieves was very much an album that took Sandi back to her roots, and brought about a re-invention of herself, that saw her catapulted to the top of the blues charts. I first saw Sandi as a support act in 2009, and from the instant she opened her mouth to sing, I was hooked. She has one of the purest female voices I’ve ever heard.
Fast forward to now, and she’s been busy making some music videos. Sandi has recorded cover versions as chosen by her fans. These cover versions have to be heard to be believed, and include GnR’s November Rain, Alannah Myles’ Black Velvet, Bonnie Raitt’s I Can’t Make You Love Me, and Nine Inch Nails’ Hurt. They can all be found on Sandi’s You Tube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/sandithom?feature=results_main
Also, on Sandi’s own website, you can get a free track from her forthcoming album entitled Sun Comes Crashing Down. You can find it by going to www.sandithom.com and you can also pre-order the album, which is due out on 27th August, and you can be pretty sure that CackBlabbath will be reviewing this album in the forthcoming weeks. As well as this track, a single has been doing the rounds on the radio called Help Me, a blues rock track that is a great taster for the album. To follow up the new record, Sandi will be embarking on a UK tour later in 2012, so make sure to catch her on the road.
