The Lonely Souls – Vital Signs

We Say :- It’s times like this that I really love doing what I do, as I get to discover a lot of great music I may otherwise have missed if left to my own devices. The Lonely Souls are a Scottish rock band, with a very blue tinge, and a whole mix of other stuff thrown in for good measure. It makes for an interesting listening experience and it’s great when something comes along that sits somewhere outside the box.

Vital Signs is an intelligent mix of music, with heartfelt lyrics, and some great songs. The lyrics are engaging, making you listen to them, rather than hear them and it all comes together to create something which hits the spot in just about every way.

Musically the band are extremely tight and for a band that’s been together for just about 3 years they have an obvious chemistry. The rhythm section work in perfect harmony to keep the groove going, whatever song you may be listening to while the guitars wash over you in waves of melody. Top that off with some great vocals which at times are haunting and melancholic and other times are cynical and injected with some genuine attitude and humour.

Vital Signs is a gem of an album, it’ll make you laugh, it’ll tug on your heart strings, and it’ll make you get up and shake your ass. I mean what more could you ask for? This is a very strong debut and I feel very privileged to have been one of the first people to have been given the chance to listen to it. The album is due for release in the summer of 2012, so keep an eye out for The Lonely Souls, and I genuinely believe that 2012 is going to be a big year for them.
