Nottingham’s Akarusa Yami describe themselves as caffeine fueled metal and by that I presume they mean they are dark, bitter and twisted ; their debut album is packed to the gunnels with loads of ideas, dynamism and infectious tunes that are played at a blistering pace with plenty of style and panache. They are prog in the way that Meshuggah are prog; metal in the way that Xerath are metal. Something definitely worth seeking out if you like your metal genuinely heavy and run through with an aggression and venom that is as invigorating as it is intimidating.
