Pilgrim : Misery Wizards

Many bands worship at the altar of Black Sabbath, channeling the crushing, pounding heaviness of those high priests of the dark arts.

New England three-piece Pilgrim are just such acolytes, staying slavishly true to the original ethos, keeping things slow and heavy without feeling any need for any unnecessary embellishment.

Having said that, Pilgrim are bloody good at what they do. The album has it’s share of 11 minute plus Doom epics like Masters Of The Sky and Forsaken Man, but there are also shorter, more uptempo tracks to keep things interesting and make this well worth checking out.
